On the first Monday of May, the Met Gala returned the The Metropolitan Museum of Art with gilded extravagance. This year’s theme was “In America: An Anthology of Fashion”, with the dress code being gilded glamour and white tie. It refers to the Gilded Age fashion from the 1870s to 1890s.
Gigi Hadid stuck to the theme by experimenting with a Gilded Age trend: the corset. She slayed in a custom Atelier Versace design consisting of a burgundy red latex catsuit and a volumnous floor-length puffer coat. The ensemble was inspired by the volume and dramatic change in womenswear silhouettes of late 1800s. Her look was topped off with jewelry by Chopard.
